Wednesday Roundup

Zzzzzz... Would someone kindly wake me when it's time to drop the puck again? Thanks.

Elsewhere 'Round the Rinks:

There's more fallout on Joe Finley's alleged mascot abuse. Seriously. The WCHA commissioner has now weighed in. The punishment? Finley must write a letter of apology to Bucky Badger. (h/t to DPlaya at Hockey in Wisconsin for the link).... Travis Morin is headed back to the ECHL after a brief two-game stint in Hershey in which he failed to find his way onto the score sheet.... Caps goaltending prospect Michal Neuvirth has been traded to Windsor.... The uniforms for this season's All-Star game (the voting for which is now open) have been revealed and, well, they're probably pretty much what you'd expect.... A handful of power rankings are out with the Caps at 28th (ahead of Buffalo?!), 28th, 28th, 29th, 29th, 30th and 30th.... Finally, on this date in 1979 the Caps tapped Gary Green to be the sixth head coach in team history (and, at just 26 years old, Green was the youngest head coach to ever stand behind an NHL bench).

1) Looks like Neuvirth got his wish getting traded to a good team. It sounded like he wasn't too enthused about returning to Plymouth in the first place this upcoming season to a rebuilding Whalers
2) Hopefully the kid will continue his development and be ready to turn pro next fall

Not sure why, but I'm not so enthusiastic about any of our goalie prospects.

Hideous ASG jerseys. Are you sure these aren't for the NBA?

A coaching change anniversary is certainly worth noting.

Question - assuming that the Caps will drop a majority of these upcoming SE games (a logical assumption) - will Hanlon be fired before or after Dec 10, which was the date on which Hanlon replaced Cassidy?

I was at Caps practice this morning and wrote up a little recap for all my Caps friends.

Feel free to use, look at, link to all you'd like.

I see you guys are enjoying the new and improved NHL schedule as much as us Islanders fans are.

1) Agreed Murph, Amazing that the schedule makers can have teams get 4-5 days off one week then play 3 in 4 nights a week later
2) For the Caps getting a few days off was probably a good thing, while the isles were playing well and had to sit for what seemed like a week between games twice already.

Yeah, those All-Star jerseys are rather vanilla - Much like the All-Star games are becoming lately. But, they could have been much worse. Not as bad as some of the new team jersey's.

@ Pepper - I'll take the under. If things don't go well, I'm eyeing December 2.
