If memory serves me, didn't the Washington Post do something similar with a photo of Petr Sykora (of I think Anaheim that year) in place of the Capitals' (best player outside of the NHL) Petr Sykora?

That's the excuse they're making, Tyler. Not sure it's a good/acceptable one, though.
And my mother, bless her heart, fears that she's starting to go senile. Mistakes like this do not help alleviate her worries!
