I Think I'm In Love
Channel 276 on Comcast (in both D.C. and Montgomery County, apparently) is now the NHL Network.I turned it on to see John Druce score on Chris Terreri in Game 6 of the 1990 Patrick Division Semis and nearly shed a tear of joy.
... And you thought this was going to be a Lindsay Czarniak post.

Wanna Watch A Game Or Two Tonight?
How would you like to watch tonight's Caps/Sens game? How about the Leafs and 'Yotes? Hell, why not both at the same time, all from the seat in which you're sitting right now? Thanks to Allsmoke for pointing us to the NHL's Center Ice Beta preview, where all of this and more can be yours - for free - through October 9 (they don't even require a credit card). Just follow the link here, click on NHL Center Ice, follow the instructions and, knock on wood, you should be watching hockey in no time.
If that description isn't tempting enough, check out the screen grab (updated with an in-game shot):
I think I just drooled on my shirt.

Verizon Center's New Screens
Per the Verizon Center website:"Verizon Center is set to score the ultimate arena experience by installing the first indoor high-definition light emitting diode (LED) display scoreboard. ANC Sports Enterprises and Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision Systems will create, install and operate the first true high-definition LED center-hung scoreboard. Verizon Center will also become the first arena to exclusively feature Diamond Vision™ LED fascia (ribbon displays), corner stat displays, and video boards driven by ANC Sports’ patent pending VisionSOFT operating system.
...
"The four high-definition Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision™ 6mm video screens will measure 14 feet, 5 inches high by 25 feet, 2 inches wide, providing fans with the highest clarity of all the action, including video playback. In addition to the high-definition boards, the new center-hung scoreboard will also feature four 10mm 5-foot, 3-inch high by 25-foot 6-inch wide LED video matrixes and two 20mm LED rings. The four 10mm video matrixes will feature images with clarity found on many primary arena video screens around the country, creating an incredible visual structure with the high-definition displays that will exhibit over 68 billion colors.
...
"The new scoreboard is set to debut this fall at a yet to be determined date."
