Who Will Be In Uniform Opening Night?

OK, that's my last extended absence for a while. What did I miss (that you probably didn't)? Well, the Caps have added a few warm bodies (still more here), but could be on the verge of losing more important players, as Brendan Witt wants to be traded for a chance to win a Cup (and the Caps certainly owe him that much in return for all he's done for the franchise, much like when the Bruins traded Ray Bourque to Colorado in 2000), Dainius Zubrus thinks he's going to play in Russia, and Alexander Semin may have to serve another year in the Russian army. If it isn't one thing, it's another.

As for the signings, I like the Majesky add, but the Biron signing is one too many (though adding just shy of 13 feet of blueliners is impressive). I predict that Biron will be my new least favorite Cap. Andrew Cassels is a decent signing too, as Ovechkin will certainly need a playmaking center, and Zubrus is better suited at wing (if he's in camp) than at the pivot anyway.

In other Cap news, NHL.com has a good story on the team's youth movement here.

[Ed. note: I had updated the various signings around the League but when I went to publish it, the server was down for maintenance and I lost it all. Bitter. Anyway, if you need a complete rundown on the past few days' transactions, go here.]

Yeah, but not by much. Glen Hanlon's a former goalie, so he won't let the team embarass whoever's between the pipes (unlike Cassidy, who had no problem doing so).
