damn, JP....quick post-game post.

Brent looked great out there. start his ass vs Tampa!!

anyone catch Backstrom pushing Green in the back with his stick because he was lazily skating back to his own zone (during a freakin NY rush) after he had jumped in on the Caps rush?

Solid!

Didn't, NS, but that's funny if he did.

I think the Rangers fans shot themselves in the foot there in the stands, at least down at my end. The Caps fans were quiet until they started up, and then the Caps fans got started and got loud and stayed loud for the most part.

Overall, a very, very entertaining and well-played game. Paging our Eeyores ... paging our Eeyores ....

How about the penalty shot save?

He sure is making the case for #1.

I would say he has earned more starts, certainly. But since Tampa is a pretty lol team again this year, maybe it's a night off for Johnny. Put him in against real opponents while he's playing hot, no use in tiring him on crap.

(Sorry, I hate Tampa, I know that sounds a little mean, but I really, really hate Tampa)

Anyone notice who was in Ted's box tonite? None other than Cape/Disco Ball guy!

Bravo to Johnny! Masterful and gutsy poke on that penalty shot. WHEW.

You all won't be surprised to hear that each of last year's members of Gang Green in the upper reaches of Section +=# have turned on him. Moi included. And rightly so. What an embarrassment. If I am Mikey I am looking into my soul and seeing if there is anyone home.

What a bum.

Maybe Green needs to move up to forward for the TB game. I would hope the places is sold out, Olaf gets a standing ovation, and Team Alex get a hatter apiece!

Someone's been listening to Brooksie's go to the net pep talk!

At the risk of being Johnny Raincloud, it should probably be mentioned that Johnny really should have had the one goal he did let up. But overall he played very well -- you can't question a guy that makes Chris Drury look that bad on a penalty shot.

I experienced a major high and a major low as a Caps fan last night. The high was when Lunquist stone-cold robbed Ovi, who fell to his knees and looked to the rafters, and the fans gave him a huge cheer. I loved being a Caps fan just then.

The low was when Semin scored his empty netter and, in a shameless display of asshattery, some idiot in Section 413 poored beer all over my buddy, who was wearing his Ranger jersey to the game. Where were we, Philidelphia? No class. My friend had been respectful the entire game, nothing out of order, and he gets beer dumped all over him. Pathetic. Hell, even if he had been acting like an idiot, you do not dump beer all over a Wayne Gretzky jersey ever. Period. I was embarrassed to be a Caps fan.

@chris:
"I was embarrassed to be a Caps fan."

Every team has its asshat fans. It's not just exclusive to Philadelphia or Washington.

@Joe

Granted, and I would have been embarrassed to be a fan of any team at that moment. It's not like I'm turning in my season ticket.

So... did you and your friend kick that guy's ass? I mean, really, that's asking for an ass-kicking, you don't do that shit to people just because your team lost/won/whatever happened. That is a shame, and not something you encounter every day when your team WINS. Go figure.

Does anyone know why there aren't any highlights of this game posted on either the Capitals website or the Rangers?

@Hazardous-- My friend could not tell who did it and no one owned up to it. I did not find out until after we left the rink because my buddy wanted to let me enjoy the win.
