A quick glance at the League leader boards in various individual stats reveals the prominent placement of a pair of Caps:

Of course, none of those rankings is as sweet this morning as this one:

Alex Semin is so good, he's like two players in one.
But seriously, how many of us would have lost money if someone bet us he would be leading the NHL in plus/minus after 14 games?

yeah...the plus/minus is the most surprising and impressive stat to me.

our friendly neighborhood rabbit did, however, fall ALOT last night. still in good form.

I'm glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. He's easily the most talented guy on the team, but damn if he wasn't getting scapegoated like crazy last season.
I think the only change is he plays with a lot more determination this year. Maybe the playoffs helped and he wants to get back there.

Next up: Carolina! Hot damn, a chance to really widen it up~

Semin even said in an interview that the playoffs woke him up as to how he has to approach the game, and it shows.

There's also no accounting for the benefit of having #91 in the locker room, which has coincided roughly with Semin's moment of clarity.

Agreed, it is nice to see him get recognition. He has all of the talent in the world, and now that he's added some determination and grit, the sky is the limit.

*nods* I just worry that we're not going to be able to afford both him and Ovi when his contract comes up. We're going to have to clear some people out and bring up some Hershey folks to swing the both of them.

Plus Johnson will be looking for a contract boost if he continues to play well, and I don't blame him.

Doesn't Semin's contract come up in 2010?
