Big hat tip to Jack for the pointer to a clip from last night's Conan O'Brien show (worth watching in its entirety) featuring "lifelong Caps fan, Syd Butler, bass player in Les Savy Fav, rocking his Caps/Ovechkin colors." Awesome.As for what's going on with the lead singer, I haven't a clue.

This band is awesome!!! And what a night for Ovie! 5 points and Syd the Super Fan sports his Jersey on Conan...Sweet, this clip is very funny I think the music is awesome and the 'bald guy' is very clever:) Finally some exciting rock bands on the Hockey bandwagon!

wow, i didn't even notice that before! les savy fav is awesome! one time i saw them at the black cat and the singer hung from the ceiling wearing a giant parka that covered his whole face. also they are awesome!
According to this article, Butler is from DC and was a self-proclaimed "Dischord(Records) brat".
Assuming he grew up a Caps fan, going to games at the Caps Center in the 80s.
