Tuesday Roundup

Three up, three downed.

I don't have anything else on the game that I didn't mention yesterday, but Tarik's recap is here and Corey's is here (is the WTimes back to sending their guy on Caps' road trips?).

Oh, and make sure to go and vote in this poll.

I'm kind of perplexed as to who does the counting on the shots. The official super stat sheet from the NHL shows that neither Brian Pothier or Matt Bradley recorded a shot on goal in yesterday's game. And anyone who saw the game winning goal knows that it was a rebound of Potier's point shot that Laich potted for the win. Also, Bradley had a shot, from about 10 feet out, right into the gut of DiPietro near the end of the first period. I'm not saying the Caps weren't out shot but who is doing the counting?

Nice catch, and you're absolutely right - I remember those two shots clearly. It's odd (but probably not coincidental) that the NHL's play-by-play doesn't have either shot either - they have Laich's goal coming 2 seconds after a Comrie turnover, which isn't accurate at all, given that Nyls had skated circles around the Isles' D for a few seconds before feeding Potsy for his blast. Strange indeed.

Do you keep a record of your daily awards throughout the season.

I know that may be a pain, but that would be an interesting thing to see when the year ends.

I.E. seeing who got the most daily 'vezina' awards, etc etc

Just a thought.

I think I will this year (haven't in the past). I'm not sure how informative it'll be, since I miss some days and it wouldn't take into account anything more than the number of days during the season that the guy was the best in the League on that day, but it's worth following, so I'll do it. Thanks for the encouragement to do so. :)
