As long as this didn't cause a rift between him and the organization, I can't say I'd be 100% against it...

but how could he not be one of our top 3 offensive (non-checking line) forwards?

File this one away under 'wishful thinking.'

To me, this is a beat writer trying to excite his readers (I was in the same pressers and heard the same quotes, but wouldn't quite spin it that way - to me it was the team and the player going with typical "no one's guaranteed a spot" rhetoric), but Tim Leone knows a hell of a lot more about hockey than I do, so I certainly wouldn't wholly discount his take on it.

@ Rage - he could easily be behind AO, Semin, Nylander and Kozlov in terms of offensive skills right now, and behind Clark in terms of "fit" on one of the top lines, but I still say there's a 90% chance he's in D.C. to start the season.

I think it's umpteen times more likely he starts the season in DC, on a wing.

C'mon JP - this is it for your training camp opening day coverage? We have all grown to expect so much more.....we are craving it, so give it to us!

Sadly, I couldn't make it out there today. I had to pick today or yesterday, and went with yesterday b/c I figured there'd be less overall coverage - and what, no love for the fifteen audio clips and pics? ;)

Tarik and Corey have some good stuff from today, as do Peerless and OFB - check out the links to 'em in the "What We're Reading" sidebar.

I will be there tomorrow, however, and will report back.

Sorry, that was quite rude of me....I think you have set the bar (barr??) extremely high for sports blogging, it is like you are seriously (this is a true compliment) on the verge of cracking the show into a legitimate sports reporter....the audio is a phenomenal touch - it's like I live in Toronto all of a sudden.

looking forward to buying you a beer this year at a game!

Thanks for the uber-kind words, JMF, and I will definitely take you up on that beer.

And like I said earlier in the week (and before), if you (or anyone) ever has a question you want us to get answered, let us know and we'll do our best. This blog is about bridging a bit of the gap between the fans and the team, so anything we can do to that end, we're up for.

ok, find out why we are wearing Penguin colors the first night they are coming to the booth....(I am aware that we do share that color, but this does not seem like a good idea when we have to compete with those Jack-A$$ fans as it is).

This is the night to wear RED.
