Ha ha, yes! I noticed that too. Through the exchange Scott looked like he was thinking "OK, can I lift it now? Do we have to do a photo first? OK, how about now? Now?"
1) It definitely was awkward. Gary wanted his usual Photo-op with he and the winning captain. Scott just wanted the dam trophy. In effect, 'screw-off Gary!'. Nice moment!
yea, hes just awkward in general with his accent, and the way he tilts his hips and he tried to crack and joke and it kind of like ruined the ceremonious mood lol....i def agree
He is such a wimpy little fella with a wimpy little voice. I totally agree with you - I also noticed the awkward moment. Scott definitely appeared to be sending a little message. AWESOME.
Actually, believe it or not, it's a she. And she says that Bettman is exactly what everyone thinks. Slimy, uncutuous (thanks, SATs!) and incompetent.
This Vegas crap (which follows, surprise, the NBA's flirtation with Vegas) is another example. Whatever the NBA does must work for the NHL right?
RIGHT?
She does do a KILLER impression of him. With the squinched (sp?) face and weird voice.
OTHER NOTE: Does the victory by ANH demonstrate to the Caps that maybe high-profile free agents/trades aren't such a bad thing? How many of the core of McDonald/Pronger/Niedseseses/Selanne/etc. were home grown? Very few, right?
Well, the Getzlaf and Perry are Ducks picks. McDonald and Penner, I believe, were undrafted free agents.
Really, Prongs and Niedermayer are the only high-profile free agents on the team. Even Selanne was a guy picked off the scrap heap going back to his old team.
I'd tip my cap more to their scouts than their checkbooks (though that helps too).

Scott just wanted to skate the Cup and Gary wanted a picture.... We know who won!

I was hoping the crowd would boo him - but they didn't, did they?
I joked about that with my coworker who used to work for Bettman this morning. That was the funniest thing I've seen in sports in ages.
Scott was thinking "What the hell, why on earth do YOU get to take a picture with the cup?"
Rage,
What does your coworker have to say about him, since he worked for him? Just wondering.

Good points, JP. Getzlaf was an obvious oversight, as was Penner.
Did not know that McDonald and Penner were UFAs. That's amazing. Great work by their scouts.
I think the crowd did boo - don't they every year?
It was an awkward moment - looked like Scott was saying 'gimme the Cup' 'no not yet' 'gimme the cup' 'in a second' 'fine, i'm just taking it!'
One of the lamest Grip & Grins I have ever seen - THANKS, SCOTT!!
