Friday Roundup

What do you guys want to talk about today?

Do you care who among Montreal, Toronto and the Isles gets the last playoff spot in the East, or whether Colorado can catch Calgary for the last spot out West?

How about our good buddy Jaromir tying Mike Gartner's record last night with fifteen 30-goal seasons?

What about Alex Ovechkin needing two goals tomorrow to hit an even 100 goals, 100 assists in his first two NHL seasons or Alex Semin needing a pair (if he even plays, which I'd imagine is doubtful) to hit 40 goals for the year?

Are you going to say a teary goodbye to Bryan Muir's career as a Capital or to the black sweaters tomorrow? Will it be Steve Eminger's last game as a Cap?

Basically, I've got nothing so I'll turn it over to you guys for now. The Rink... even more interactive than ever! Enjoy.

GO MONTREAL! GO CALGARY! (Seriously, I'm going to need to be committed after this weekend...)

Jagr isn't good enough to tie Gartner's laces.

I think Ovie can do the 2 goals - nice round numbers, much prettier than Sid the Kid. Semin on the other hand is probably out buying Ovie a new iPod.

*Sniff* Bye Muir. Eminger will be back unless he gets packaged in a deal that brings Rafalski to the District.

Did I answer all the questions? Do I get a prize?

I really hope Ovy gets his 2 goals tonight. 4 would be dandy though :)

And yes, I just used an emoticon.

How about the more than a little odd third period between Boston College and North Dakota? The Frozen Four is the most compelling hockey going on right now.

Am I the only one who thinks it was a cheezy move on the Caps' part by sending Schultz down to Hershey one game shy of making this a full year? I understand this is a business and this locks him up for another year... but there is a loyalty aspect to all of this. The kid has been absolutely phenominal for a 21 Y.O. -- he has probably been our third or fourth best blueliner since his arrival and his future is very bright. The signal the Caps are sending is pretty one-way. Again, I understand their logic but I believe the underlying message is counter-productive. They could have waited until the end of the season, let him give his jersey to a deserving fan, and then go to Hershey for the play-offs. Still the Caps... and they wonder why top-notch free agents don't want to come here... don't have to think too hard on it.

IMO, you're over-thinking this one. It's a smart move by management and every one of the other 29 teams in the League would have done the exact same thing.

If anyone missed the CO-Van game last night, the Hat trick doesn't even describe how good Hejduk was last night.

Luongo made 3 more magnificent saves on Hejduk, and without him Hejduk could've had 5-6 goals. One of the best individual hockey games I've seen in a long long time.
