Bourque Scheduled To Make NHL Debut

Tim Leone of The Patriot-News is reporting that the Caps have recalled Chris Bourque from Hershey and is scheduled to be in tonight's lineup against the Atlanta Thrashers.
"I found out [Monday] night around 11, 11:30," Bourque said. "I didn't fall asleep until about 4, I was so excited. It's a dream come true. I've been waiting for this since I was a little kid. I've always wanted to play in the NHL, and now I get a chance to play my first career game. It's really exciting."
Bourque's style of play may be exactly what the team needs right now, and Caps fans eagerly await his NHL debut. Pity they may not actually be able to see it as tonight's game will not be televised here in D.C.

(Thanks to Joe for the heads-up and link.)

Did I miss something? Why won't the game be televised? I thought all Caps games were televised this year...

"Because the NHL has decided to give the Versus Network exclusive rights to some Monday and Tuesday night telecasts, Tuesday’s game from Atlanta will not be telecast in the Washington or Atlanta areas. Instead, viewers can watch the New York Rangers against the New York Islanders on Versus."

Got it. Great. Thanks so much Versus.

Still holding out hope that Center Ice suits will allow the feed from Atlanta.

kb, there is no telecast of this game in either DC or Atlanta. nothing Center Ice can or either team can do about it.

Amazing. Thanks, anon. Now we all know what it's like to be a Blackhawk fan.

i posted this on the caps board but figured i might add this here too:

Pay attention to his game log. Then look at his points and then look at the Capitals record.

Kozlov needs to seriously start producing NOW. He has at least 1 point in ALL of our wins. And he has only 1 TOTAL points in ALL the other losses COMBINED. That is NOT GOOD. This is a very important point with Kozlov. He is STIFLING our OFFENSE!!! He is ATROCIOUS on the PP! He is ruining this team like an undetected cancer!

Thanks for sharing, anonymous. Very enlightening, particularly the caps and exclamation points.

Correlation != Causation

Also, small sample. I'd say that the anemic PP and lots of time on the PK are more pressing issues (and more fixable) than trying to get someone to bust a small slump.

Every time I hear that Chipotle ad now I think "Bourque, Bourque, Bourque, Bourque, Bourque, Bourque, Bourque... what do I want on the end of my fork? I want Bourque."

Kozlov has nothing to do with this situation. McPhee and Hanlon need to go now. It concerns me that CBourque is being thrown into this kind of situation where he is seen as some sort of catalyst on an underperforming NHL team. Sure he could step up and become this medicine man, but injuries aside it needs to be done with the player/personnel that came out of camp. Just wondering how long into the season Leonsis will let McPhee and Hanlon hold training camp.

p.s. Backstrom has done everything asked of him. It would be criminal if the veterans ask Backs to put any cash into the rookie dinner.
