Another day, another article about the Caps' special teams woes, this one in the WaPo (the article also features blurbs about Alex Ovechkin's Russian hockey memorabilia and Matt Pettinger's recent productive play).Elsewhere around the League:
- It's been a rough week for Mario Lemieux. First he was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat, then he withdrew his name from contention for a spot on Canada's Olympic roster. Now he says there's a "slim chance" the team will be able to stay in Pittsburgh after their current lease expires in 2007. Where will the Pens end up? Here's my guess.
- Hart: Ladislav Nagy (Game-winning OT goal, A, +1 in Phoenix's 2-1 win)
- Ross: Marc Savard (G, 2A)
- Norris: Bryan Berard (Game-winning OT goal, A, +1)
- Vezina: Martin Biron (W, 34 saves on 36 shots against)
- Richard: Ilya Kovalchuk, Pavel Vorobiev (2G each)
- Calder: Pavel Vorobiev (2G)
- Aiken: Michael Garnett (OT loss, 4 goals against on 32 shots through overtime and a sieve-like performance in the shootout)
