Via his blog (don't worry, this one's safe for work), Cooley recounts his trip to Saturday night's Caps/Rangers game, the first hockey game he has ever seen, in person or on television:
"I am not kidding when I tell you that what these guys do on the ice is nothing short of amazing. ...Amazing indeed (and well-described).
"Now the goals were great and all but the best thing about the whole night didn't happen to be the scoring nor was it a fight (there were close calls but no real ones). It was however, the blocked penalty shot in the third period that would have tied the game with about ten minutes left. Backup goalie Brent Johnson bitch slapped the puck away from Rangers captain Chris Drury before he could even think about taking the shot. It was amazing."
Cooley concludes his post with a message to all non-believers:
"[T]he Capitals officially have two new fans. And if you're not a fan I challenge you to get out to a game...you'll be hooked. It is unreal!"I'm not sure whether or not the second fan to whom he's referring is his buddy that he accidentally posted on his blog back in September, but regardless, it's good to see someone spreading the word about hockey and saying what we've all been saying for years: try it, you'll like it.
Big h/t to Simply Sensational on the link.
Update: It's been pointed out by Cooley blog regulars that despite the "posted by Chris Cooley" tag, the post was actually written by his brother Tanner (was CC even there?). Whatevs.
