No further introduction needed - go read it.

Update: The "scoop of the season" is making waves up north...

That. Is. Awesome.

Love him on Whiny Diver.

But most importantly: We all talked about how important it was for the Caps to play just one playoff series last year. And Semin's answer reveals not just why, but that the experience was as important as advertised.

"What's so special about [Crosby]? I don't see anything special there"

Awesome. Maybe the new rivalry will be Ovechkin/Malkin and Crosby/Semin

Damn, I want to start liking this guy.

Great read. Nice to see his personality come out.

Just to recap the Day in Caps: Japers' Rink has whip-smart, au courant analysis on the Caps, Puck Daddy has a boffo interview with Alex Semin and TEB has GMGM teaching a class.

Blogs win.

Best quote: the one that knocks Crosby.
Scariest quote: the one where he says he and Ovechkin were driving 160 miles an hour at 1:00am. Please say that's not true. We don't need another Pelle Lindbergh here in D.C.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about hearing how our two best players decide to drive maniacally around the beltway.

Nice interview, though. I, like everyone here, especially enjoyed the Crosby snub.

I really like Alex Semin now. I hope the Capitals have no money to pay him with and he comes to the Leafs ;)

Between him and Ovie - I do believe we have our quotables covered for years to come.

@ Ames: Don't forget Laich and Bradley, and, of course, Boudreau.

People who have this team to write about are blessed with some great characters.

Regarding quotables: don't forget Alzner

The DC area is full of good quotes.
Caps: Covered
Skins: Portis, Cooley, Zorn, Blache (D coordinator), Smoot
Wiz: Arenas, Blatche, Young, Pech
United: Ummm....lil help?

Plus, we have Steinberg devoted to talking about Hair Cuttery, Cheese, t-shirts and quotes; plus, we have perhaps the biggest contingent of bloggers in the country.

"What did you learn from the playoff run for the Capitals last season? There is only one lesson I learned: Character. You have got to have character in the playoffs. The rest is the same. Every game is not just a game, but a real battle. You don't come out to play, you come out to fight."

One big wet smacker for this, Rabbit Man. Bravo. Maybe he's possessing of a keener brain than I have heretofore given him credit for. My bad. My very bad.

Gaudy sushi spread! Wow.

Let me first say how thrilled I was when I got Semin in my Yahoo Fantasy League draft. I bet no one else in my league wanted him... suckers!

Smart guy. Great player. Good article. Was that speed chase in the US or Russia? Funny as hell. Maybe instead of a music video, next year the team could remake The Fast And The Furious.

Note: Though it takes some balls to criticize Crosby, I doubt he'd say the same thing if he was playing on Crosby's wing.

One GLARING question still needs to be answered:
Why does Sasha always Fall Down Go Boom?
Get on that one, Puck Daddy.

I think that if you take any player, even if he is “dead wood,” and start promoting him, you’ll get a star. Especially if he scores 100 points. No one is going to care about anyone else. No one is going to care whether he possesses great skill. Let’s say you put someone in front of the net and let him deflect pucks in, and he scored 50 goals; everyone will say “Wow!” and then hand him a $10 million per year contract. That’s what they like here...

Does he really think scoring 100 points or 50 "dirty" goals is not a reflection of skill? That NA hockey stars are made by media, not by performance on the ice?

I'm thinking/HOPING that was 160 KM/h, which is about 100. Not that out of the ordinary on the beltway. :-)

This is probably why Semin never wants to give interviews. To him, it was probably a casual interview and now it's blowing up.

Still, I'm glad he did it. Awesome, and he needs to do it more!

i still cant believe people are eating this shit up

120 points dont fall into the laps of players of todays nhl.
gatorade and reebok dont sign talentless players to be the face of their brands.
they called it the Sidney Crosby sweepstakes for a reason.

if he doesn't want dump and chase he can cop out on his team contract and head back to the motherland - hes done it before.

and this might be a different story if mr. manbatter had numbers that rivaled Crosby's but i wont embarrass him more by posting a side by side comparison.

this ruskie asshole has nothing.
