Blueliner Josh Godfrey and winger Steve Pinizzotto have been re-assigned from AHL Hershey to South Carolina of the ECHL. Neither had been doing - or, more importantly playing - much, though JGod did have that pre-season hat trick.

I guess Godfrey might be a bit farther away than a lot of people thought.
I don't think so. He has to wait till the shit hits the fan in Cap Land. He would have been playing on any other team in the AHL.He wasn't sent down he went voluntary. You will see him back in Chocolate Town in a few weeks. Who else on the Bears supply the lethal weapon that Godfrey has in his arsenal. The Bears sure could have used him Sunday especially when the Bears pulled Cheese and had Alzner out their??????
That would be like saying "I guess Alzner & Lipisto are a bit farther away than a lot of people thought?" Because they were sent back to Hershey. No it was because of the salary cap. The same reason Sloan was called up over Alzner the salary cap!
People tend to look at things differently when it's the team they root for, like when Holtby signed and some people thought he'd be with the team this year or when people were sure Steven Werner was going to be the next Jeff Halpern.

Maybe I don't understand your analogy but that doesn't make sense to me. The salary cap is non-personnel issue in the sense that Alzner may have been sent to Hershey for that rather than his play. But Godfrey not seeing ice time in Hershey and being sent to South Carolina has nothing to do with finances and everything to do with personnel, i.e. that he wasn't ahead of enough of the other defensemen on the Hershey blue line depth chart.
