Per Stan Fischler: "The NHL’s officiating corps will suffer a three-way blow at the end of the season. Kerry Fraser, Don Koharski and Ron [sic] Schick all are calling it a career. And that may not be all." Bill McCreary? Please?
Oh, and I can't wait to see what kind of traffic I get now that I've published the phrase "three-way blow."

Well, you did call a three-way blow "the feel-good story of the day" .... :)
Just sayin'.
OK, I know I'm going to get shouted down here, but I actually like Fraser as a ref. He's consistent. (I know, here comes the peanut gallery, "Yeah! Consistently BAD!")
At least with him you know what you're getting. Just because sometimes we, as fans, get upset about it, doesn't mean it wasn't the right call. Plus, he never seems to try to "even things out" rather than just call 'em like they are.
But I know I'm in the minority here.
Did someone say "three way blow"?
The problem with old school refs like Koharski and Fraser is that they follow arbitrary unwritten rules regarding how to call a game. If one team gets a 5-3 then they'll do their best to make even-up calls. If one team has power plays in a row, they'll make an even-up call. If the game is close, they won't call a penalty late in the third period or OT.
A penalty should be called consistently, no matter what the score, no matter how much time is left, and no matter how many penalties have already been called against that team.
Refs like Fraser and Koharski think they're bigger than game. The sooner they go, the better.
. . .my word verification word was "croch"
I don't know these three guys all that well, but dang, wording choice, anybody? LOL!
They killed Kerry Fraser when they made him put the helmet on.
Nah, Kerry has had a helmet protecting that dome the minute he found out about Aqua-Net back in the 80's.
My pants just got shorter.
PLEASE DEAR GOD LET MCCREARY BE ANOTHER TO GO!
With the market tanking and last nights loss, this is the only thing to put a smile on my face today. Thanks JP! --and btw, love the phrasing. I'm gonna try to work "three way blow" into some random conversation today.
Well, if Fraser says he's done then he's done. We know he would never lie.
