Happy Belated Birthday... To Us

With all the excitement around the end of Development Camp, it seems that we missed our own birthday. On Saturday, The Rink turned three-years-old, which is 21 in dog years (and an absolute eternity in Internet years), so finally we can have our first sip of alcohol in celebration.

This is the post in the comments to which you all now thank us for our tireless efforts and perform other acts of sycophantism while we scratch our head and wonder where the last three years went (hint: into 1,978 posts... oy).

Oh, and fret not - actual substance returns in time for lunch.

Substance is overrated - you should celebrate, congrats on hitting the three year mark!

Here's hoping you continue to set the bar way too high for the rest of us poor schlubs to reach ;)

1) Congrats and job well done! This has become a must-read for caps fans and those of us who are not, but hockey fans nonetheless

I do that practically daily! I love you JP. But you know that.

I think you should celebrate by trying out to be a Caps ice girl.

Happy birthday! JR has become a regular read so now seems like a good time to say thanks for all your work.

I've been wanting to acknowledge your work but didn't want to appear to be ingratiating or, well, a sycophant but since you've opened the door, thanks for your incisive analysis, sarcasm, laughter-inducing posts (with pithy titles!) and most of all, for being the stat mavin. I feel smarter about hockey after reading your site so please keep it up. On the other hand, you get no thanks for making me less productive at work.

JP - I love your stuff, and look forward to many more fact-centric posts containing gems of wisdom, and hysterical wit. Keep up the good work.

I start my day checking your blog and reading what you're reading. A great blog, even though I have to confess that you sometimes lose me on the stats stuff, because numbers are not my friends.

Ditto what Tyler said.

I would love to see your very first post, is it around?

Congrats JP! Best of luck in the years to come!

Congrats, JP! I want to echo what Lisa said that coming to this site makes me a smarter Caps fan. Your site stays on my computer all day at work and gets reloaded way too many times for my bosses' liking. You do a hell of a job.

Congrats JP! I read everyday. Long live the Rink!

Seems like just yesterday we were rookies at this thing. Congrats on three years, it's not easy to stay relevant that long.

Congratulations on the auspicious anniversry. I appreciate the way you are always on top of the news, and that you discuss it with insight and humor. I also admire your clear writing style. I have never once finished reading one of your posts feeling a compulsion to punch your creative writing teacher in the face. (Sadly, this isn't true about every blogger on the Caps beat.)

Thanks, all. Everything I do, I do it for you.

And Norske, should you change your mind, Ms. Darling certainly could use a shot in the chops.

Way to go, Idaho! My dad always used to say that on my birthday, eh.

Congrats, JP. Your dedication to the cause is one more important reason that we should be proud to be Caps fans.

Happy birthday, buddy! I also forgot my own third birthday, which is (cough cough) today. I only noticed because of a post by Kevin BFLOblog.
