Is it possible that less than a week after T-shirtgate, the NHL has accidentally revealed all of its award winners online on the eve of its big awards show? Yep. It's possible.
In a related story I'm looking for a new job. Mr. Bettman if you're reading: I can chew my gum without choking and I never forget to wipe my ass; hire me to run your website.
1) If this turns out to be accurate, and the winners were 'leaked' in advance, in our opinion, this tarnishes the entire voting process. 2) Given the nature of this possible 'leak' it allows one to theorize that the NHL may not be on the level as to the voting. Perhaps the 'winners' were selected not elected?
I just don't see this information (as in award voting lists) being in the inbox of some web designer at the NHL.com. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if these are the winners at all. Mainly because they all make sense. We'll see...
The plausible theory is that someone in the know got the final voting list and scrubbed the numbers out of it but left the names in that order before sending it on to the web folks.
As a commentor over at F/H noted, the biggest piece of evidence that this isn't the order is that Lundqvist is second and Brodeur third on the Vezina line. There's no way in hell Brodeur finished third... is there?
There's really no way this is true. Pominville isn't winning the Byng. Blake probably isn't winning the Masterton. Phaneuf won't be second for the Norris, nor will Lundqvist for the Vezina. I don't see how Babcock has a hope of winning the Adams. It's very unlikely Zetterberg beats out Datsyuk for the Selke, as well.
The way I see it, they put in the obvious guys for the obvious choices (Ovechkin and Lidstrom), and everything else is just "put it where you want it and watch everyone freak out trying to read into it."
1) Bradley: Actually Blake/Zetterberg are the favourites to win those awards 2) The Lady Byng is a meaningless award. Do players really covet/want to win it? The order of 2nd/3rd is meaningless. 3) The one we have an issue with is Babcock. Was anyone floored that Detroit won their conference? At worst most saw them as a top 4 team out west. Meanwhile Boudreau took a 30th placed team and made the post season/won their division. His difference to the team's success couldn't be any more evident, right? 4) Since the Adams is ONLY about the regular season we'd of had Carbineau and Barry Trotz ahead of Babcock
It does not taint the voting process. The votes were cast back in April. It ruins the idea of a surprise awards show.
BTW - why is it that I can not find a link to the Hart shirt now? I actually want to buy one now that I know he won, and I can not find it on shop.nhl.com. Idiots.

Wow. Just, wow.

That page better not be right, because Bruce deserves the Jack Adams.

When was the vote? Marty stunk at the end of the season...it's possible.
The voting takes place after the regular season, and before the playoffs start, right?
Yes (supposedly).
