In Case You Were Wondering Redux

Now that Steve Eminger is gone, your new longest-tenured Cap:

Gordo skated his first game for the Caps on Opening Night, 2003, centering Jaromir Jagr (strong line combo, Butch - we're all shocked it didn't work out for you).

...and people wonder why Jagr got things off on the wrong foot with the Capitals

...not to suggest that was Jagr's first game as a Cap, just as an indication of how mixed up the team was at that point.

Jagr was a big reason that team was mixed up here, DMG. At least that's how I remember it...

And it's not like we didn't have a repeat of that in 2006-07 with Beech centering Ovy.

I don't know if the team was mixed up because Jagr was here or if he was here because the team was mixed or a bit of both.

The did get mixed up giving into Jagr's whims, thinking hiring a "player friendly" coach would placate him after Ron Wilson's more disciplinarian style and signing Robert Lang. But on the other hand, Jagr wouldn't have been around that year and wouldn't have to have his precious feeling considered so much if the team hadn't been stupid enough to give him that 7 year contract when they acquired him.

And the player with the most games played as a Cap is Alex Ovechkin with 245 games played followed by Shaone Morrisonn with 237.
