And Now They're Dead

Join me, won't you, over at GDub's Puck Daddy blog to bid a heartfelt goodbye to the 2007-08 Philadelphia Flyers. Oh, and bring a tissue if you tear up as easily as the commentors over there.

Who did your beloved Caps lose to again?

Ha nicely done, Jape.

The Flyers elminating the Caps....now that's nicely done. On the ice, not on paper.

Who knew so many Flyers fans could actually read?

Maybe its because I've been a Caps fan since *only* 1990, but my hate for the Pittsburghs goes far, far deeper than anything I can muster up for Philly. Right now any team that beats PGH is one I applaud.

Unlike Flyers fans, Pitt fans have enjoyed far too much fun and success over the years, and fully deserve some serious heartbreak. (They do have to live in Pittsburgh though. Oh wait, not all those "fans" who actually live in the DC area and jumped on the bandwagon in 1991.)

The comments on that blog in general make my head hurt. Isn't that blog brand new? How did so many idiots find it so quickly?

I hate the Pens more. All I wanted the Flyers to do was end the career of Sid and his little Dirty Sanchez 'tache. Very disappointing all around. Maybe those wussy Wings will do it. Oh, and blinding Malkin would also be nice.

Too bad you put so much effort into that comment, only to have it deleted instantly.

Yawn.

Clean up the language a little and I'd be happy to leave your comment up.

And you should be proud of your team - the Flyers had a great season.

Hey Jape, it is funny how you pick on a team that essentially eliminated your team, in the first round, and although it was in 7 games we still beat you at YOUR home, and also remember we were seed NO#6. And in your collumn it says that we whined for respect, now if I remember correctly after you guys lost game 7 your players blamed the refs for cheating you guys out of a win. That must not be whining. And another thing for your funny little Briere comments, where the hell was your beloved Ovechicken? (spelled wrong on purpose) Oh yeah thats right he showed up for game 1 and then didnt do jack till game 5. And don't give us crap for injured players alright because the organization has not blamed our loss to the Pens on anything other than they flat out beat us, period. And by the way next time you want to make fun of a team that hasn't won a cup in 30 years make sure your team has actually accomplished something, because you see unlike your Caps the Flyers have made the playoffs aside form last year for I believe it was 16 straight years and we actually have a Stanley Cup title, 2 to be exact. Basically what I'm trying to say is you have absolutely no right to write about how the Flyers are dead considering your Caps have had absolutely no playoff succes, they only got in because Carolina faltered, Ovechicken decided he couldn't score goals, and the fact that you guys lost to a 6th seed at home in game 7 and if that isn't bad enough you guys lost in Overtime, I mean come on, now that is sad. Oh and one more thing last year the Flyers were worst in the league for record, and now we got to the Eastern Confrence Finals, I am proud of my team, I would have liked to see them go further but at least we put up a fight, unlike the Capitals.

Sonia, the blog is featured on Yahoo Sports under NHL page, that's how I found it.

I appreciate you tempering your language.

As for my eulogy, I'm not sure that the Caps' performance has anything to do with my qualification for writing that post, but that's neither here nor there. Greg asked me to write something insightful and inciteful and I just tried to have a little fun with it. That's all. Sorry you took it so personally.

No problem I figured the language wasn't exactly needed I just wanted to make it more "powerful". Well I just don't get why he didn't get a Pens fan do it. And did he pay you any money?

JP said...

He definitely didn't pay me any money (in fact, the bastard still owes me a couple of beers), and I think he didn't get a Pens fan to do it b/c he had a Pens guy (Hooks Orpik of The Sweater Ted) do the Caps eulogy and he wanted to spread the love (I assume he has a Flyers blogger teed up in case the Pens lose).

Another reason he asked me was because the Caps and Flyers were matched up in Round 1.

Finally, he knows I've been a Caps fan since the early '80s, so I have plenty of dislike for the Flyers, even if they're no longer in the Caps' division.

Oh, I think he shoulda paid you. Well i can see it for the round one if we would have been eliminated in #2 but either way it doesn't matter. I'm thinking the next couple of playoffs, providing no holdouts, will be good ones especially if Caps can find more mojo, and we don't have lots of injuries.

Cheers to that.

Yes-sir........of course though I must throw this in for comment I HATE the Penguins, and the worst part is they will only get better.

JP said...

See? There's something else we can agree on (the first part, about "hate").

Hopefully they'll be in salary cap hell pretty quick.

hopefully, especially if they win the Cup Fleury will be wanting a HUGE paycheck along with Malkin, Hossa and I forget the other big named guy they have.

Maxime Talbot. :)

Now that we've reached common ground, did you at least enjoy the eulogy a little bit?

Yeah sure this part And yet, Flyer fans -- those loveable, cuddly Flyer fans we are all cuddly.........except for the ugos. Ryan Malone was the other big named guy, I still don't like it but too bad the Penns part was true, but hey we are a good team with young guys and a few vets we'll be back, hopefully.
