I haven't been this nervous since... Saturday. GO CAPS! BRING ON GAME SEVEN!

I searched my brain for a coherent pre-game thought, and all it gave me was

Holy crap I'm nervous.

Here's hoping for an early lead to settle me down.

I don't remember ever seeing a stick break out of nowhere like that. Eek

Anonymous said...

wow okay. finishing your check is interference... what the fuck, why can't we ever get good referees? holy shit.

For all of those getting shut out by VS, the NHL, and a bunch of other people that I hate right now, here is a crappy online feed of the game:

Not dumping the puck in even strength but they dump it in on the PP. And on the PP, no one in front of the net again! They put Laich and AO in front for the last two games but nothing this time. They run everything on the left side - driving me nuts.

Caps in 7? Not the way this PP is going. They're plain sucking in the first period.

PHL forecheck is killing 52 and 26, too.

Anonymous said...

I hate Danielle Briere

Anonymous said...

Boy, nothing has changed in the second period. Squandering PP time by passing it around again instead of shooting.

WOW. seriously, WOW. Semin/Backstrom give and go goal was a thing of beauty.

OV got rocked - like he usually rocks opponents....good goal by line #2.....next goal wins the series

Why does Biron do the Patrick Roy Statue of Liberty pose every time he makes a friggin' glove save?

JP said...

Vive le Lapin!

Flyers are DIVING!

Was that Upshall or Crosby with that head-snap move?

We need a 3rd period to match the 1st period of game 5. Relentless forechecking, pucks to the net, bodies bouncing, pucks in the net. It's an easy formula ;)

Anonymous said...

Man, this is gonna be an exciting 3rd period. Let's leave it all on the ice, boys!

Anonymous said...

Laich gets right up in Danielle's grill and we have a tie score.

Jendeis said...

Every time I look away from the TV, the CAPS score. I've found the magic formula!!

We still BELIEVE!!!

Figures I'd be out of town and find that my hotel actually has the Versus channel only to find they bumped it for the Bos/Mtl "contest" (or lack of one). I'd like to know whose brilliant idea this was.

If the Caps can hang on for 5 more minutes I can see game 7. Go CAPS!!

NS said...

holy crap.

This team never ceases to amaze me. Ovechkin has awoken, Backstrom and Semin are playing amazing hockey, and they are rolling. Flyers are on their heels. They will be manic tomorrow.

I BELIEVE. CAPS IN 7. OVECHKIN GWG.

All season long the Caps' MVP has been AO. In the playoffs so far the hands-down MVP for the Caps has been Cristobal Huet. His play has been stellar.

Anonymous said...

*sigh* Too bad Boston couldn't pull it out too.

See y'all at the Phone Booth tomorrow!

Anonymous said...

The best players always find a way to back into the groove. Alex Ovechkin emphatically did that tonight. That 2nd goal of his was a zinger.

I thought the last game of the regular season was nuts -- tomorrow will be complete pandemonium.

LET'S GO CAPS!
ROCK THE RED!
BRING IT!

And be careful what you wish for. Should Game 7 go to the Caps, they face Pittsburgh (thanks to Boston).

Unknown said...

@anonymous

We WISH for Pittsburgh!

hotdog,
Absolutely right, Huet has been unbelievable the past 3 games...since the Flyers stopped running him freely. We can expect them to start doing it again tomorrow. Biron looked a little rattled at the end there.

Unknown said...

Mediocre goaltending has always haunted the Flyers during the playoffs. This year is no different. The Caps just need to keep firing the puck.

Contrast that with Huet who seems to be stepping up his performance after each game.

Anonymous said...

Biron's glove hand has been suspect all series and it really came back to bite him tonight.

Salmon said...

That really couldn't have been much more miserable.

And as bad as he sucked tonight, Biron always sucks worse in the second half of back-to-backs.

Maybe he figured that by not playing the second half of the game tonight, he'd be fresher for tomorrow.

Bleh, I have tickets for tomorrow, and just so little desire to go. I'll be happy to meet up with any and all Caps fans who want to rub my face in this shit.

Anonymous said...

ben,
I gotta say, you are a real man (and real fan) for coming on here and posting your thoughts tonight. Caps fans have a bad opinion of Flyers fans for some good reasons (and some bad ones) but you are class.

Tomorrow night is going to be intense. The veterans need to slap the kids around tonight and remind them that tomorrow night is an elimination game too. I would give anything to be at the VC tomorrow night. For those that go, hold nothing back.

Abhinav said...

How about you just give your tickets to some caps fans instead, Ben.

Anonymous said...

Ben, way to man up and come back after the loss. Not looking good for your guys, but then again the same could have been said about the Caps before tonight's game. I've seen way too many games that should have been sure wins turn into losses, so I'm not predicting anything for tomorrow.

Salmon said...

Naw, I'm definitely going to the game tomorrow. I've never been to a Game 7 (well, not since I was a toddler at Caps-Islanders 4OT), and I'm going to support my team no matter what the momentum is like.

I'm watching the Flyers post-game interviews, and they just seem unbelievably chipper. I don't know if they're still in shock, delusional, or confident, but their obliviousness to the chance they just blew is a little frightening.

If the Flyers can start putting the kind of pressure on Huet they did while they were winning (run him over a few more times), then I like their chances to turn it around.

And by like, I mean I put them at around 25%.

Anonymous said...

I think going on the road actually helps the Flyers here. We all know that Philly crowd would be waiting to boo them if game 7 were in Philly. Caps have to be ready...if the Flyers are chipper, that's a bad sign.

Momentum is going to be huge tomorrow. If the Caps can score early, I don't know how Philly will keep their composure in that crowd. God I can't wait.

Salmon said...

I think being in Washington definitely helps the Caps, but I think what helps the Flyers is the quick turnaround. They don't have enough time to dwell on what they lost in Game 6.

Bailey said...

It's funny, I'm a Caps fan/DC native now living in Philly, and most of the bad press they get for being a-hole fans is mostly just exaggeration and the case of the one bad apple spoiling the whole lot.

For the most part, Philly fans are some of the most loyal and well-informed fans you'll find. They like their teams to have a blue-collar attitude (people here LOVE Ovechkin almost as much as Caps fans do) over flash-and-dash and hate pansy whiners (I think they hate Crosby more than anybody else in the league) with a vicious passion.

For me, after living here for about 7 years, I've come to respect Philly fans cuz, let's face it, every city has a-hole fans who do terrible stuff. Philly just gets a bad wrap for it for some reason.
