A tip of the hat to Strikeman for pointing us to a great feature on Nicklas Backstrom from Sveriges Television AB, which can be found at this page (or just by watching the clip below).

Worth the watch folks, half is in Swedish but its worth the parts that are in English.
I've got a question. If it was so important that Ovechkin make the playoffs to get the Hart, then why shouldn't Backstrom get extra love for the Calder since the Caps made the playoffs and the Blackhawks didn't?
Great question, and I recall some columnist making a similar argument.
The bottom line, of course, is that it doesn't matter and they're going to give the Calder to Kane.
It's almost as if having a Hart, Calder and Adams candidate hinders each a bit under the logic that "With that player and that rookie, of course that coach is going to win" or "Well, the rookie got to play with a Hart finalist and under the tutelage of one of the best coaches in the game" etc. I'd be utterly shocked if the Caps pulled off all three award winners, and surprised if they got two (though I certainly think Boudreau deserves the Adams and Ovie is a lock for the Hart).
I wouldn't lose any sleep if Kane won over Backstrom, but it's nice to see that he is in the mix. I remember posting here in the summer that I was concerned that Caps fans may be possibly expecting too much from him this season. Boy did he prove me wrong. I think we are only seeing a glimpse of what this kid can do with just one season his belt. The chemistry between he and Ovie is there and they will only make each other better.
All Caps loyalty aside, Kane should win the Calder. It reminds me of the question of whether Ovechkin or Crosby should have won. Kane got more points with less help for a worse team. If I were a Blackhawks fan and they gave it to Backstrom, I'd be pissed. Backstrom's only shot is if Kane and Towes somehow split the vote, but I think too many will write off Backstrom because he played with Ovie.
That said, Backstrom is going to be a star in this league very, very soon and I fully expect him to have the best year of those 3 guys next season.

Watch for the cameo by Semin :)
Originally credit for this should goto "Cush" from the HF Forums.
Somebody buy OV a friggin collared shirt. He looks like he should be playing for Bon Jovi
Ovie could wear a freakin' tutu over that suit and he would still be numero uno.

Screw the points. Backy's a better player.
Kane has yet to master moving in slow motion.
Thank you, anonymous. We see eye-to-eye. Too bad the freakin judges only care about goals. I HATE YOU PATRICK KANE!!!!!!
