And yet again:

Best. Caption. Ever.

And how is Kozlov?

Kozlov scores the shootout winner Tuesday night. Fedorov with two big Assists tonight. Somewhere GMGM is smiling.

It would have been nice if for the first two periods the Caps could have something positive happen without the Bolts coming right back... But, 2 points is 2 points.

The 4th line played a hell of a game.

Great finish - now if we could just get someone to slip some Ex-Lax in the Bruins' pre-game coffee...

The Caps pull a rabbit out of their hats! Can they keep up the 'living on the edge'?

NS said...

Maple Leafs are freakin worthless. NJ better destroy Philly tonight.

Huet, again, was the reason we had a chance in this game. the rabbit came in pretty clutch, too. he even hopped up and down while celebrating.

I have never seen more griping about wins than I see here. The Caps have won seven of eight games while mired in what is probably the toughest stretch of their schedule. Stop complaining.

" ... the rabbit came in pretty clutch, too. "

Tyler, you are a major downer of a person. I see no complaining here, only relief and satisfaction. Polish your reading skills, bud!

The rabbit was good. See, when you bash him, he scores! Let's continue!

Erica: Read more carefully. "It would have been nice if for the first two periods the Caps could have something positive happen without the Bolts coming right back..."

And bummed-about-the-win posts have been pretty common in the last two weeks.

Boston and Philly's inability to revert to their sucky play from earlier this year is getting really irritating.

Actually BOS has lost seven of its last 10, it's just managed to grab points in three of those losses. They're not playing well, but they're playing well enough to hold on.

PHL is another story though, agreed. I guess they're motivated by the thought that Simon Gagne will be back in time for the Cup finals. (Heh.)

FWIW, hotdog has the question of the day: What's the word on 25?

Amazingly Tarik never mentioned the Kozlov injury in his game story. Read Corey's WT story for why that's extra-amazing. I mean, earth-to-Tarik....

I have to say that Fedorov's face-off before the third period goal was a thing of beauty.

It was nice to see scoring from lines other than Ovechkin's.

Semin's goal wasn't bad for a dumb bunny, wouldn't you say JP?

Unknown said...

JP's traveling, but I think he'd agree the goal was a lovely thing.

As has been discussed here ad absurdem, the problem with Semin isn't skill-level, it's that for three games he'll dangle and dangle and dangle... and you never know when he'll snap out of it and come through with a hockey play.

Anonymous said...

Semin played for shit last night, as per his standard operating procedure. As I msg'd my brother in Tampa, "I really kinda' hate Semin, but not so much right now." Okay, so he got a goal on 1 of his 2 shots all night. Now, if only he could complete 1 solid pass in the offensive zone each game, he'd improve infinitely... since you can't divide by zero.

Anonymous said...

Semin also scored a clutch season-saving, game-tying goal last night. I know he makes everyone nuts, but we're still in it today in part because of him.

I believe in this team. I've never seen a Caps team more resilient and explosive than this one. Boston has tough games coming up and we're only 2 back in the division now. That next game with Carolina is looking extra huge right about now.

Laich's development this season has been great (and surprising, to me) to watch. In October, he shoots that puck straight in to Ramo's pads.

Here's what the post-game on the Caps site says about Kozlov:
"
Kozlov blocked a Shane O’Brien slapshot just after Semin’s tying goal, and had to crawl off the ice. He was walking around with barely a limp afterwards and should be none the worse for wear for Saturday’s road finale"

Austin Powers to Patty O'Brien: Why won't you die?!

This quote continues to flood my mind every time Boston or Philly wins.

Philly and Boston both have tough rows to hoe. Especially the Savardless B's; with two games against Ottawa and Buffalo each, and on the road against NJ.

I'm sad JP went out of town, I was looking forward to seeing Jarkko Ruutu in the daily roundup. ;)

I'm glad to see Kozlov seems good enough to go. The Caps will need him down the stretch.

Tyler -

"And bummed-about-the-win posts have been pretty common in the last two weeks."

So that's the way a playoff team beats one of the worst teams in the league?

Get a PP, get a penalty 5 seconds in. Get a goal, give up one less than a minute later. Get a goal, give up one less than 3 minutes later.

I was simply frustrated that it seemed like they couldn't put two things together in a row in those first two periods.

I am happy they won. I'm happy that they're peppering the other team with about a million chances each game. I like that they can come back from almost any deficit when they're properly motivated.

That doesn't mean that I have to take a blind eye to the things that I don't like, though.

1) Yes, Jersey better win else Mr. Sutter may be going back to farming in Viking Alberta sooner than he thought. Lou doesn't like to lose thias time of year ask Mr.'s Ftorek, Robinson, Julian etc

I'll pose a question that's been burning on my mind. Tarik mentioned in his chat today and has mentioned a few times before that Kolzig wants to be a #1 NHL Goaltender next year. What teams do ya'll think Kolzig could actually be the #1? I'm struggling coming up with an answer

FAUX RUMORS said...

1) Well, the questions are:
a)How many teams will NEED a true # 1 goal?
b) Is Kolzig still a #1?
2) a) LA, Colorado, Detroit,Ottawa,Washington
b) At 38 and having an up/down season its unlikely that any of those teams would consider Olie worth a starters salary.

Mop said...

The reason Kozlov went down so bad, and was walking without a limp later was because he blocked the shot with his cup.

Unknown said...

Seems like Tampa had five men collapsing in front of Ramo all night. They were taking away the cross-ice passes too. Caps did a good job of taking what opportunities they could get. I hate those kinds of games. The Caps seem to fare much better against more offensive minded teams such as Montreal and Ottawa.

I'm just glad we're not talking about Russia as a third world country today.

Hey, Mr. "ad absurdem" Tyler ---> here is the truth-->you do not know everything there is to know about hockey. deal with it.

Anonymous said...

And Tyler is annoying in his little reprimands of us too. It's every Caps' fan's god-given right to be lookin' over their shoulders warily.

Unknown said...

Scott has an excellent point on whether there are teams for which Olie could be a No. 1 next year:

If Carey Price bombs in the playoffs maybe MTL would want a veteran around. If Hasek doesn't return to DET, maybe they'd want to split the No. 1 job between Osgood and someone. If OTT decides that it's going to radically overhaul its G situation it might buy out both Gerber and Emery. Lot of 'ifs' in these here answers.

That leaves the LAK. They need a No. 1, a No. 2... and already have a lot of contracts at the position.

And yes, I get tired of reading silliness, be it inaccurate or stoopid. Who doesn't? (Hoping for the presence of laxatives in Dunkin' Donuts coffee? Is that really worth sharing?!)

Anonymous said...

Tyler, your personal life must really suck.

Anonymous said...

i agree with anonymous: tyler --- please lighten up. You think we are all silly, "stoopid", inaccurate, gripe too much and complain too much. Here's what you ought to do: be a man and shut up about us. Tyler's, your criticism i don't need. I get enough elsewhere. Please not here.

JP said...

Alright, that's enough.

The last thing I want to do is censor or moderate comments, so here's the bottom line - if anyone has anything to say about the Caps, I want them to be able to say it without fear of being flamed for it. No one's going to intimidate others into silence.

And at the same time, there will be no personal attacks. Period.

C'mon, people. Let's try to keep these comments at the high level they've been at for so long. Cool?
