"The Washington Capitals have recalled right wing Eric Fehr from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.Tarik has Fehr playing on the first line with Ovechkin and Backstrom (the FOB line?), with Kozlov centering Semin and Fleischmann (the FKS) on the second.
Fehr, 22, has played in 10 games for Hershey this year after missing most of the season with an injury. He returned to the lineup on Jan. 9 and had an assist on his first shift. Fehr has two goals and four assists with the Bears this year."

Eric Fehr Recalled From Hershey
In a move to add some secondary scoring (we hope), the Caps have recalled Eric Fehr from Hershey. From the press release,

My 2 immediate thoughts about this are:
1. I hope Kozy moving to the 2nd line doesn't mess with the chemistry on the first line.
2. I can't help but think this is GMGM seeing what he can do with what he has with enough time before the deadline to make a move if Fehr can't get it done.
(Please hear I am not saying he'll deal Fehr.)
Glad to see he is getting another shot now that he is healthy again. He seems like another prospect that does not have anything left to prove in the minors.
1) Something had to give. Agree with Mark that its best to first change from within before making trades.Wonder how long they will/can give Fehr to show something.
2) Thats quite a lot of pressure to put on him. Promoted from the AHL, placed on the top line on a team desperate to stay in the playoff race!
3) Kozlov's moving makes the most sense. AO and Backstrom should continue to have their 'chemistry' while the team desperatly needs to get another line going and laich/Gordon have showed zip offensively lately.
4) Time is running thin with a mere 29 games remaining to get into the playoffs (90 points)they will have to win 18 of those!
I think that the chemistry on the first line is more about 19-8 than it is about 25-anyone.
I think it's a shot they have to take, especially three weeks before the deadline.
It can't be the FOB line without someone wearing a suit with cheap reeboks underneath and poorly parted hair and some coke-bottle glasses...
but that's just my two cents.
Not sure about the line assignments, but calling up Fehr is a great idea. He is a RFA at the end of this season and we need to see how he fairs with the big boys. This is important no matter what we do with him - sign or trade. (Fehr/Pettinger/Eminger/2nd rounder would be a decent package - the only real "loss" would be fair. Pettinger is replaceable and we have a score of D prospects to choose from)
I agree with Kozlov not being that instrumental to the first line's success, and its not like he's out in front of the net banging away...so...(CLARK please fix your groin, thanks)
Getting Semin to click with a pivot is essential for this team to succeed.
Fehr is not going to be the answer to secondary scoring.
I don't see Fehr providing anything other than what he's given in the 25 games he's already played. Hope he proves me wrong.
Think back to the start of the season when Semin was out and we supposedly didn't have a top guy on RW. Well, Semin is back and he pretty much sucks so far.
The commenters on this blog are unusually insightful. But: Is it just me or is it the anonymous commenters who leave the dumb comments. Such as, "Joe sucks." Great. Glad you contributed that. It added so much.
I liked JP's comment.
Hope it's not a jinx.
Weeeeeeee-HAW!!! I finally get to see this prodigy in action! (Okay, yeah, I might have taken a trip up to Hershey. . . ) If Eric can just keep upright (not easy on Verizon Center ice, I hear) and alert and aggressive, he will do fine with Ovie and Nicky.
I hope Kozlov (that Big Ole Dog) can bring some help to Semin. Freckles is beginning to look quite lost and alone out there. I doubt Kozzie is the answer, but I hope I'm wrong. It's worth a try, I suppose. Freckles needs to pitch in a goal or two on a regular basis.
Just what is the deal with Greenie? "Mike Green is without a goal in his last seven games and is minus-5." This WILL NOT do. Do you suppose he was playing cautious with Mo gone? Is Mo such a key guy? Yikes.
In any event, great to finally see Fehr and please, Hockey Gods, keep him healthy!
Green had great chemistry with Mo. ALSO, he produced on the PP, which has sucked lately and is dearly missing Nylander.
We have the right pieces, they just keep getting hurt.
Semin and Olie Jokinen...please??
It won't be easy for Fehr to make an immediate impact on Tuesday. For that matter, it will be tough to get the scoring on any line going with Pascal Leclaire in goal for the Jackets.
I dearly hope they prove me wrong though.
Still, it's worth a shot bringing Fehr into the mix.
1) Kinda ironic that Fehr will be the oldest guy on the 1st line(10 days older than AO)
2) Some one mentioned Pascal Leclaire. He's having a great season. Should have been on the allstar team.
3) The Jackets team in general are significantly better than last year. Their 16-8 home record means its going to take a full effort to take those 2 points!
Here ya go, Tyler. Sorry about the anonymous submission.

Think back to the start of the season when Semin was out and we supposedly didn't have a top guy on RW. Well, Semin is back and he should be made trade bait for a team in the Western conference.
I think giving Fehr a shot is a good idea - he earned it with 21 goals and 20 points (plus a +20 rating) in 40 games with Hershey last year and I think ~mark is spot on when he says this is essentially a trial period to see whether McPhee needs to look for another top six forward.
The answer? Maybe not. But it's definetly worth a shot at this point.
