In case you haven't seen it already, I thought I'd post a local Pittsburgh car ad featuring Colby Armstrong, noted card sharp Maxime Talbot, Sergei Gonchar and Evgeni Malkin (who has so little personality and/or command of the English language that he can't even get a speaking part) for its sheer unintentional comedic brilliance. Enjoy.
Remember some of the old Caps ads? They were showing them pre-game at the beginning of the season: Olie & (fake) wife at dinner, Adam Oates at the laundromat, Simon protectiong Bondra in the grocery store, Line Change...there was a rumor one more was filmed but never shown:
Gonchar on a date. Walk up to house, passionate kiss outside the door. Door opens, Gonch and date go inside, door closes, siren goes off above door.
After seeing that, I'm beginning to think it was just a rumor.
Victor - the gonchar ad is not a rumor. I saw it @ the phone booth on the big screen. Back when those ads were on tv, they also ran them during intermissions at the games. And while there was a siren, above the door was a goal lamp. That game may have been the only time it was shown - word was that Gonchar's significant other was not pleased and he asked them to pull it.

Think of all the money Geico could have saved on makeup if they'd just put those stiffs in their 'caveman' ads.
Can you say "Guido"?
Talbot is my new favorite Penguin.
tiki tiii tiiiii
tiki tiiiii
lmao
More Max for you, NS.
Still more, and I'm going to stop searching now, as I'm suddenly afraid of what I might find.
1) Wonder how many takes it took to get this ad just right?
2) Geez, Malkin was stiffer than AlGore! LOL
JP: Talbot has been something of a hidden gem for some time now. He's starting to emerge on and off the ice.
It's a shame Colby looked so stiff in the commerical. He's usually a lot better and entertaining.
Also, my all-time favorite is probably the legend of Max Talbot and the Stanley Keg
Malkin's charisma really shines through in this commercial, certainly much better than anything Ovechkin could do.
I believe Gonchar's acting style would be described as 'wooden'.
Yeah, Max is good stuff. It'd probably have been a better ad with just him and Army, but Gonch and Geno bring the star power.
Then again, with the amount of free play this thing's getting, I'd say it's a pretty damn effective ad regardless.
what a bunch of fucking losers
thanks, JP. that sh!t is gold.
They looked like a bunch of friggin nightsticks with suitjackets on. The stiffs.
Hahaha It's so bad, it's good.
Anybody remember the old Adam Oates cadillac commercials? Adam Oates definitely looked like he drove a caddy....

So at what point in the ad does Gonchar transform back into Soundwave?
I still want to see ovechkin in an Eastern Motors commercial

Anonymous--Are you kidding? Wow. Just...wow. Must've been the first season at MCI, 'cause I didn't have season tix then.
So, was Gonchar as stiff in that commercial as he was in this one?
Oooops. I mean, was he as wooden...Ummm...I don't think there's a polite way to ask that question without it coming out incorrectly ;)
