More Popular Than Britney

The NHL can build a "state-of-the-art flagship store" in downtown NYC, they can attempt to make a big splash overseas in the E.U., and they can even garner endorsements from the most unlikely of celebrities. But how do you really generate buzz among the web-savvy hoi polloi? Naked pictures of professional hockey players.

Yes, Jiri Tlusty's tlusty piqued the curiosity of online users everywhere yesterday, grabbing the numbers 1 and 2 spots for the most searched terms on Technorati, topping "Britney," "Ron Paul," and "BBW" (just missing in the screenshot below, my apologies).

If this story turns out to be part of a viral campaign for "Breakfast With Scot," it's brilliant. And if it's not, well, Capri Films should get on it.

And what will the NHL learn from this? Nothing.

Also, if this had been any other team other than Toronto, would anyone give a crap? Sometimes I think the Toronto media pushes too much Maple Leafs (and hockey "controversy") onto the rest of us. There are 29 other teams...

It's kind of like thinking what New York City wants is what all of America wants. No thanks.

Are you part of the viral campaign? :)

Seriously, I hadn't heard of this film before reading this post - is it being shown anywhere in the US?

Indeed, what New York City wants and what most of the rest of America wants are often at odds. Which is why I live in New York City.

Nope, but given the strength of the Canadian dollar, I'd be happy to consult for Capri.

Nothing about U.S. release dates on either the distributor's site or IMDB .

This is the best part of the whole story. Unless you happen to live in Wade Belak's neighborhood, that is.
