Elsewhere 'Round the Rinks:
The Caps were back at work yesterday, and, from all accounts, it was a "back to basics" type practice.... Who's the best rookie in the East? Some would say Nicklas Backstrom. Others would be wrong.... A few power rankings for your perusal, with the Caps ranked 9th, 13th and 16th.... Anyone catch the Sabres/Leafs on Versus last night? Awfully loud when the Leafs scored, wasn't it?

Yes it was loud in HBC arena when the Leafs scored. It's good to see that the phone booth isn't the only arena where the home team has to listen to a raucous cheer every time the Pens/Rangers/Devils/Flyers/Sabres/ score.
I think Nike's cab driver is a little happier than usual this AM.
If Sundin was on the ice for all 5 goals against and none of the goals for, how is he -4 and not -5?
The OT game winner was a PPG, and Sundin was on the ice.
Or something like that.
1) Its way too early for serious Power rankings to give a true indication, but on our blog the Caps came in 7th.
After OV I knew Laich drew a lot of penalties. Surprised Green was next, he really is getting better and better.
