Stat Of The Day

Both Jaromir Jagr and Alex Ovechkin have registered 201 points as members of the Washington Capitals, but Ovechkin has scored his 201 in 166 games whereas it took Jagr 190 games to do so. AO also has 16 more goals than Jagr (99-83) among his 201 points.

H/t to Paul Rovnak on the stats

In the end, when Ovechkin retires, he will be put into the same class as Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe and Richard. Crosby might end up there too...

You know it's going to get awful crowded up in the rafters by 2025, when the Caps will have 6 retired numbers. By they they will have added 12 for Bondra, 37 for Olie and of course, 8.

Don't be so sure that Bondra's number is a lock to be retired. It could happen, of course, but people like Kelly Miller and Calle Johansson almost deserve it more for being more reliable (not necessarily point-wise) contributors over longer times spent with the team.

So who is the Caps' designated Jagr shut-down guy tonight? Jurcina?

And Ovechkin got 201 points in fewer games with a much weaker team.
