One wonders which came first - Tarik penciling Josef Boumedienne into the starting lineup or his decision to profile the Swedish rearguard in tomorrow's WaPo. Regardless, both pieces give some serious food for thought to those who thought that signing Boomer was merely an insurance policy that could be cancelled once Tom Poti was acquired.
If Boumedienne does make the team, that likely leaves (barring a trade) one on-ice spot and one press box seat left for Steve Eminger, Mike Green, Jeff Schultz and John Erskine... and 15-plus days to figure it all out.

Is boumer really that good, I havent seen him play since back when he was with the Caps the first time around.
Is he better than the kids?
I've heard NO ONE talking about Steve Eminger's performance in camp. Anybody?
1) Interesting that Tarik is penciling him in. perhaps he has some inside info?
2) All things equal, the Caps would probably prefer to go with a guy with more experience on the backline
3) He also mentions a trade as a likelihood. We all know who's name is gonna be rumored to be headed out.
I wonder if the NHL allows blog commenters to be throw-ins in trades...
Was it Hockey or Baseball where someone was traded for a thanksgiving turkey?
Regardless, I like Boomer. I kinda hope he and Erskine make it for the final spot, but I happen to like Erskine a lot more than some.
1) Erskine actually was one of their better defensemen before he went down last year. Like this season he was penciled in as the #7-8 guy.
2) Having another guy who can drop the gloves also doesn't hurt. He was becoming a crowd favourite.
