Versus And NBC Dump Clement

In case you missed it, Versus and NBC both dropped Bill Clement from their respective studio shows for nationally televised hockey games this coming season. The significance of the move, of course, is that it breaks up the "all former Caps" studio show of Clement, Keith Jones and Brian Engblom, and also it gives me a chance to use one of my favorite goofy hockey cards in a post.

1) Its a good, and long past due move by both networks. Clement is misused as a studio host. He does a fairly decent job as a color commentator, but is not cut out to be an MC
2) It was all the more clear when he'd take a night off and Al Trawtwig would fill in. Al would do a FAR better job, and probably the networks saw this as well.
3) Bill seems like a good guy, and we're sure he'll catch on with someone

Dunno, Clement was good. Not sure why they decided to let him go. Rather than, for example, Engblom, who brings nothing especially unique to the show. Clement's good at color, too (Emrick and Clement was best team ever), so maybe he'll get a chance in the booth.

The old Bud Light commercials were cool though...

"Clement Clement hands of cement."

"Why does Engblom get the women?"

"He's on tee vee! TOP THAT!"

Here's "Clement, Clement, hands of cement." All the others are there, too, under the "related" tab.

Awesome stuff.

Oh, and I agree with Ari and Faux - I really liked Clement as a color guy, especially with Gary Thorne.

Engblom = worthless.

Definitely a goofy card, and a goofy announcer.
