Among the many things you may not know about new Caps blueliner Tom Poti, likely most surprising are his severe food allergies.
How severe?
"Wherever he goes Poti carries a lifesaving shot of adrenalin, called epinephrine, to open his airways[,]" and he's had to use it three times to save his life.
A 6-3, 210-pound NHL defenseman with the 14th-highest blocked shot total in the League last year could literally be killed by Reese's Pieces. Crazy.
UPDATE: It turns out Poti isn't the only one in the organization with a severe nut allergy.
