Report: Oilers Sign Nylander

Having lost out on the Scott Gomez sweeps, it is being reported that the Edmonton Oilers have signed Michael Nylander.

Obviously this is unwelcomed news for Caps fans, and may force the team to resort to Plan B (or C or D...) - Alexei Yashin. Stay tuned.

UPDATE (8:51 AM): Nothing concrete (and not to go all rumor-mongering on you), but I'm hearing that these reports are a bit premature.

Nooooooooooooo!

Dorthy Hamil would be a better fit than Yashin. From everything I have heard he is an awful locker room presence.

Well I hope to God you're right about the reports being premature... I can't find anything more concrete anywhere else.

George needs to drag his ass out of bed and get on the horn.

I hope they avoid Yashin COMPLETELY. Even if they can't sign a center, just don't get him.

TSN's site seems to be down (?!) so nothing from them via the tubes. Nothing about Nylander on Sportsnet.ca either.

would be great if they could get Forsberg (even with injury question) for 2 years to mentor Backstrom and catapult Ovie's numbers.

no chance in hell, but it would be nice.

Dorothy Hamill (e4)

IF Nylander is gone, the next question is: Who is a better fit: Handzus or Yashin?

Funny, gamemisconduct.

If if it has happened, I don't get the Nylander to Edmonton deal. Doesn't really make sense for either one.

BTW TSN is back up.

I'm not sure I understand anything Kevin Lowe does. But Brian Burke sent him a very nice Christmas card last year.
