Get To Know: Jakub Voracek

If the Caps hold on to the #5 pick, I'm hoping they get the chance to (and do) draft Jakub Voracek. Here's why.

1) Any player who has skill AND will drop the gloves when needed is a keeper!
2) Will he be available at #5, and better question is will the Caps retain that pick?

To be fair, that was his one fight - a preseason scrap with a midget. Still nice to see, though.

If he's available at 5, I think the Caps take him. How many offensive RW do they have in the system? Bouchard, and not much after that.

If not, then I prefer the Caps use the pick in a trade package for good veteran center or defenseman. There's nobody else there that really enthuses me.

1) There is sure to be plenty of trade speculation with the Cap's pick. Don't they have another 1st rounder as well? The Sabre's?
2) GMGM really has the pressure on him now. Drafting 18 year olds is one thing, but to use all the excess prospects/picks and parlee them to plug a hole is another.
3) Fans are done with rebuilding, they now want results, and won't stand for another Friesen/Cassels type of trade/signing.

In addition to the #5 pick, the Caps do indeed have the Sabres first round pick (part of the Zubrus/Novotny deal), #28 overall.

And I don't think the fans are necessarily done with rebuilding. They are, however, growing quite tired of losing.

@ exwhaler: Don't forget about Fehr (injury concerns notwithstanding) and possibly throwing Flash over there to get him into the lineup (b/c AO, AS, Pettinger and Brash aren't going anywhere too soon).

1) Most equate rebuilding to losing. At least the term 'rebuilding' is often used by management to assuage their fans that times will get better down the road.
2) Most Caps fans are done with losing/rebuilding. They probably know that they won't win a Cup next year, but want to be in the playoff race beyond December

Thanks, Faux. You've got your fingers on the pulse of CapsNation.

Now if only Faux(es) had its fingers on Faux(es)'s own pulse: Faux(es) has taken at least two positions on a possible Yashin signing.

if by rebuilding he means another season anything like the last two than yes jp, fans are done rebuilding

Which is what I meant - I think people are willing to deal with a work in progress, as long as they see some significant progress.
