George McPhee Q&A

Caps General Manager George McPhee took the time to sit down with members of media new and old this afternoon, and here's the audio from that session (warning: start with your computer volume down low and turn it up from there - it recorded rather hot):

Note: if since the embedded player doesn't work, here's a direct link, and OFB has a good recap of the pseudo-presser for you visual-learning types.

Sez TB to FLA: Price of a third-line center: Second-round 07 or 08 pick.

Maybe the Bolts will sign Hamrlik now, put on the flannel and party like it's 1994.

Suts for a second-rounder? Has a nice ring to it...

I would not trade Suts for a second-round pick in this year's draft, personally.

Would free up $800K tho...

This team has neither salary cap concerns nor unmanageable financial woes. $800k (more, once he is qualified) is relatively insignificant at this point.

Right, but it gives you an extra $800K (I think he was at 720K last year) to throw at free agents, to 'spend' in trade. Of course this only matters if GMGM has a budget within he's working. And I assume he does.

i'd like to see Suts stay in a Caps jersey...

i think GMGM and the team have a price in mind for the holes they want to fill. having that extra $800K will not affect their decisions, IMO.

I adore Sutherby and would love for him to stay, but something tells me that will not be the case. Sigh.
