And It's Official

Per Tarik, these are, in fact, the new threads in all their (home - unless the League flips whites and darks again) glory (the whites can be seen here, lower right):

UPDATE: UniWatch has some thoughts on the uni's, and DK also points out that the shoulder patch is reminiscent of an American icon - the Pontiac Firebird logo:

Maybe the team's slogan for 2007-08 should be "We Build Excitement."

It's now on the Caps page as well. They have thrown in the towel.

I just saw that.

For what it's worth, I like them a lot. I love how the stick is 3D and comes out towards you, and the three stars for DC, MD and VA is a nice touch. Can't wait to see the whites, which I bet will look even sweeter.

Look much better with these colors than the leaked ones. Still a bit torn though.

Colors will still be worn at home with whites on the road. I saw it on a TSN article linked from UniWatch.

If it were up to me there would be primary and secondary uniforms. The Caps could wear red most of the time, but when they were playing at New Jersey or a similarly colored team, they would wear blue.

They dropped the existing logos, changed the colors (which still look orange to me, hopefully bad picture)and put the team name on the front.....and that took nearly THREE YEARS of development? Say what you will about the Sabres' new look, they at least committed to an aggressive re-design.

i like. i agree with JP - i think the whites will look sweet with the new eagle/W logo.

big day today. can't wait until tonight.

It's a shame that the leaked picture was such poor quality: the initial reaction wouldn't have been so negative.

Really smart design. In every sense of the word.

Very sharp. I think it's a nice mix of old school and sleak design. I can't wait to see what the whole package looks like with pants and socks and helmets.

I think I like everything except for the w/eagle....they should have just put the current eagle on the shoulders.

I like the new duds. Maybe they were trying to give the Alexes some extra inspiration with all the red.

John, if they kept the old eagle logo, that would have been a nice concession to the fans that like the current (oops... I mean old) unis.

The shoulder patch also looks a bit like a phoenix (those that rise from the ashes, ironically enough).

The whites.

Meh.

Just meh. They don't excite me, and I'm not sure I like them any better than the current ones (except the black one, those have always been awful).

That's an awful lot of effort to redesign and not really come up with anything fresh or new.

Ive noticed the pigeon is looking to his left....no doubt with the intent of setting up Ovechkin.

Or maybe that's just a coincidence, but geez, they spent almost three years dreaming this up?

The shoulder patch is also similar to DC United
(http://www.sportslogos.net/images/Soccer/MLS/DC_1550.gif) ... who should have not changed from their original Eagle
(http://members.aol.com/mzinn/united.gif).

That's what I was thinking. I really like the eagle patch--it's a true logo, not a goofy cartoon character. It's a "W" in the shape of an eagle.

It's about the only think I like about the new jersey
