U.S., Russia Cruise At Worlds

In Day One action over in Moscow Russia pounded Denmark, 9-1 (Alex Ovechkin, with a goal and an assist, was named the Player of the Game) and the U.S. beat up on Austria, 6-2 (Team USA Captain Chris Clark had a goal, Brian Pothier an assist). Elsewhere, the Czech Republic crushed Belarus, 8-2 (Jiri Novotny was held off the score sheet for the Czechs) and Finland shutout the Ukraine, 5-0.

Read much more on the tourney over at Mike Vogel's blog throughout the fortnight.

I'm watching the Rangers play the Sabres, and I realized the following:

There is nothing more annoying than people slapping the glass when the play is in their corner.

Can't we all agree to stop this?

I'm pretty sure that at the VC they warn you once and throw you out the second time you do it. It should be that way at every arena.

Good to see Smooty back in time for the draft, too.

At HSBC Arena the glass pounding seems to be encouraged, led by Sabretooth. I find it very annoying also, and think it's the one drawback to sitting down close (well, regular season, when I could afford it...the roof for playoffs), but I willingly suffered!

By the way, we want to keep Zubrus:
