So Close

Dammit.

By my math, if Olie had played another 1:10 over the course of the entire season, his GAA would have been rounded down (if the NHL rounds down) to 2.99.

For what it's worth, Olie could have gotten that extra time in yesterday's game if the team didn't have to pull him at the end for the extra skater.

Yeah, but the effort that the Caps put up to keep the Sabres from scoring despite the fact that they were playing in the Caps' zone for a good minute while Olie was on the bench was a pretty stunning show.

You could of course say that the time would have been far better spent in the Sabres' zone and I wouldn't argue, but I honestly can't recall the last time I saw a team spend that much time in the offensive zone with no goaltender in net and not score. Awesome hustle by a team that had nothing to play for but its collective dignity.

Maybe I'm just trying to find something positive to take away from that game, but it impressed me.
