Caps Trade Heward To The Kings

The Caps have sent Jamie Heward to the L.A. Kings for a conditional fifth round pick in 2007 2008.

The Rink has obtained this exclusive video of Heward at National Airport, headed for his flight out of town:

H/t to Snktimoniuz on the vid.

Snap, bit of a shock. But not really. Let's see what they do with these picks.

So does Steve Eminger still know how to lace up skates?

Conditional fifth? CONDITIONAL? On what, Heward catching a flight?!

Probably conditional on whether or not he re-signs with LA (the pick likely is higher if for some reason he does, dig?).

The real question is why the hell does LA - a team below the Caps in the standings - want to give up a pick for a soon-to-be UFA journeyman defenseman?

Oh, yeah, I didn't even think about the team involved. Uhhhh I don't have an answer.

Ouch. Does this mean we can stop hearing, "It's a hook, but it's a dive too."

I'm touched.

Garrett, is THAT what he was saying? I'd been hearing that all season, and had no idea what was being said. THANK YOU.

Now... the real humour in that... is that the commercial was filmed at LAX.... that is the Los Angeles Air Traffic Control Tower in the background.... it's a unique tower and not mistaked for another

Funny stuff JP

Tarik explains the condition -

"If Heward is re-signed by Los Angeles, the Capitals receive a fifth-round pick in 2008. If he does not, they get nothing."

So a no-cost move for the Kings past his salary for the rest of the year. Honestly, I thought the Caps could get something for Heward, but I guess not.
