The Captain

Tonight the Red Wings will raise #19 to the rafters at Joe Louis Arena in honor of perhaps the greatest captain in the history of hockey if not all of sport, Steve Yzerman.

I've always loved Yzerman and admired him from afar (though I did get the chance to meet him at the White House after the Wings' Cup win over the Caps), in part because of his skill, in part because of his loyalty and in part because of his style of "let your play do the talking" leadership.

So hats off to Stevie Y., whose skill was only surpassed by his class.
