Ovechkin Nominated For Two ESPYs

Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin has been nominated for two ESPY Awards – Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best NHL Player – the winners of which will be determined by fan voting that opened today at Only six athletes have more nominations than Ovechkin, who is the only hockey player with the chance to win more than one award.
Now go vote!

Good question, but I'm just as surprised that ESPN didn't ditch the hockey category altogether, given their obvious and open disdain for the sport.

i was thinking the same thing about the best play snub. some of the nominees that made it were shaaaky. oh well...i guess the calder will have to do.
